What does your Foot Mobilisation Therapy (FMT) practitioner do in treatment session?

Your highly skilled practitioner checks, assesses, and, if necessary, applies a corrective manual therapy treatment to your feet and legs during each appointment at the Foot & Leg Centre. Every treatment you receive affects every bone, joint, and tissue in your feet. No other health-care modality addresses foot function as comprehensively and uniquely as Foot Mobilisation Therapy (FMT).

Our physiotherapists and podiatrists work together oto treat the whole body. Specifically, our team is your first port of call if you have pain in your feet and lower limb, whether it be muscular or bone-related. They also assist with other feet issues, including orthotics, calluses, ingrown toenails and sporting injuries. Our podiatrists have extensive expertise in providing you with an accurate diagnosis and evidence based treatment while also working towards prevention and assistance with rehabilitation after surgical procedures.

Foot Mobilisation Therapy Balwayn North benefits from looking after their feet, whether they have mobility issues or are high-performing athletes. We understand that when you are experiencing any signs of discomfort, your overall happiness and mental wellbeing can be affected. This is why each client has a detailed assessment and a tailored solution created to align with your specific issues, as well as fitness and lifestyle goals. Each of our podiatrists is trained and registered, and regularly keep up-to-date with the latest evidence and technology.

Are you looking for an alternative solution to fix your feet without being dependent on orthotics? Or are you still in pain despite wearing orthotics and trying different treatments? A natural solution to fix your pain and restore your foot function Foot Mobilisation Techniques (FMT) is the use of a manual therapeutic method to treat musculoskeletal conditions of the foot and leg.

Joint Mobilisation/Manipulation is a long established hands-on therapy that is being widely used by manual therapists – mainly chiropractor, physiotherapist, and osteopath, to treat a variety of musculoskeletal conditions throughout the body. However, rarely any of them perform the techniques comprehensively to treat specific foot and leg conditions.

At The Manningham Foot  Clinic, our sports podiatrists are highly trained and experienced in this unique technique to fix foot and ankle problems. We help you to feel better, move better and perform better without medications, surgeries, and using orthotics or changing your footwear in a majority of the cases.

How do we do the work?

  • The therapy targets at freeing up restrictions and stiffness of the joints in the feet and improving the position of the joints to allow your body to naturally restore its optimal biomechanics (structure and movement of the body).
  • The joints will be taken through their natural motions to break up adhesions and restrictions within the area that prevents the joint to operate at its best position.
  • Treatment is usually combined with specific but SIMPLE corrective exercises, which allow you to contribute and maintain the improvement of your feet when you stopped seeing us.

What does it actually do to the body?

Foot Mobilisation Techniques have been proven in the ability to:

  • Improve joint mobility by breaking up connective tissue adhesions and restrictions around joints.
  • Improve postural stability by stimulating the body’s proprioceptive systems. Significant improvement was seen particularly in elderly.
  • Improve muscle strength by invigorating the efferent nerve messages from the brain to the relevant muscles.
  • Reduce the ‘pain messages’ sent to the brain by stimulating the joint mechanoreceptors which suppress the nociceptor (a sensory receptor for painful stimuli) impulses to the brain.

What are Orthotics?

Orthotics are shoe inserts that have been designed to correct, support, and improve the function of the foot and lower leg. Orthotics, also known as orthoses, help to control foot movement and restore and support foot alignment. Orthotics can also help with knee, hip, and lower back pain. Orthotics can be used to help with injury recovery, sports performance, and long-term chronic foot issues. Prefabricated orthotics, custom orthotics, and even insoles that can be purchased at a chemist or sports store are all options for orthotics.

This is the main type of laser used to remove warts. The light heats up the blood in the tiny vessels inside the wart and destroys the vessels. Without blood, the wart dies and falls off. The laser’s heat may also attack the virus that causes the wart. The laser may feel like a rubber band snapping against your skin. You won’t feel much pain after the procedure is done. You should heal fully in 2-4 weeks.

Laser treatment can be beneficial for hard-to-reach areas, such as genital warts in your urethra, the tube that transports urine from your bladder out of your body. Depending on how many warts you have and where they are, your doctor may prescribe medicine to numb the area that will be treated.

How does Foot Mobilisation Therapy (FMT) help fix your feet?

Foot Mobilisation Therapy (FMT) is a gentle hands-on manual therapy treatment that works naturally and holistically with your body. Mobilisation and Manipulation therapy has been performed by allied health practitioners for decades. Foot mobilisation therapy can be essential for improving function and relieving foot and leg pain. It works by improving the mobility and congruency of joints in the feet, ankles and legs. This in turn allows muscles to work more efficiently around foot and leg joints.
